Mann UCLA Community School welcomed Patrisse Cullors—revolutionary, author, activist, and co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement. Mann teacher, Mr. Marcus Van, invited Ms. Cullors to share her story with students and help them feel more connected to their identities, self-worth, and community. UCLA is celebrating its 100th birthday. As a part of the celebration, UCLA Advocacy recognized Principal Leyda Garcia and Principal Orlando Johnson for their dedication and commitment to serving youth through their work at UCLA Community School and Mann UCLA Community School.  Both principals were honored and received awards at the LA City Hall on May 22, 2019.
